Case Studies

Local district’s excels through IV&V to satisfy CMS 7 standards

Challenge:

A district was implementing a new Medicaid Management Information system. The current Medicaid management information system consisted of a number of standalone technology components across various platforms. There was a need to validate and verify that these enterprise module plans were aligning to the district’s plans.

Solution:

We developed a IV & V/Quality Assurance for all the modules within Enterprise MMIS. An independent verification was performed for activities, proposed plan of action, work breakdown structure and progress reports.

Result:

The district was able to get an independent assessment that Enterprise MMIS modules satisfied the requirements outlined in CMS 7 standards and conditions. A comprehensive report was published highlighting verification and validation of sub components of the enterprise system, staff readiness and risk mitigation strategy.

Federal agency soars ahead with our training in PMI best practices

Challenge:

A federal agency was struggling to manage large complex programs and projects. There was no standardization or best practices approach to project management and instead, project managers were transferred on a need basis from other administrative departments to manage projects.

Solution:

We designed and delivered a bespoke training curriculum for project management training, educating the agency’s project managers of the best practices of PMBOK. We provided hands-on project management training, empowering project managers to dive in and address issues and challenges they were facing.

Result:

The agency’s project managers were significantly empowered and equipped with the appropriate thought process of how to effectively manage projects. As a result, projects stopped slipping behind schedule, running over the budget or creeping in scope. This ultimately lead to huge cost savings for the federal agency.

Optimizing Interoperability for a City Agency

Challenge:

A state agency for health and human services was struggling with data exchange, governance and interoperability. There was a dire need to transform processes for better interoperability for a Heal 17 grant.

Solution:

After mapping out the current processes, we produced a gap analysis. We then designed a target operating model which included governance around data and established data stewards. New data policies and procedures were rolled out.

Result:

Work from our engagement was submitted as a part of the grant. The disbursement of the state was tied to their deliverables, so since they achieved required milestones, they received the desired funds.
